Lighting lives with
Solar Power
Inspired by success of a pilot program developed in Kenya’s last mile region under the ‘Econic Earth Foundation’ in 2019, The 'Watts On: Lighting Students' Lives' program was refined and developed further to transform pathways to education with a simple tool, Light.
Our program is dedicated to serving students in rural and off-grid regions, particularly those from nomadic and pastoralist communities, who often lack access to electricity at home or in school.
We prioritize late primary level students, providing solar lights to aid their studies and preparation for exams as they transition to secondary school. We’ve found among research that this age group has one of the highest dropout rates due to early family commitments at home, early childhood marriage, pregnancy, menstruation, and families inability to pay school fee’s.
